Apex Smashball
What is Apex Smashball?
Apex Smashball is a program for our youngest athletes. Through this program our athletes will develop essential skills, compete, and play in an age appropriate setting. With a focus on fundamentals and gameplay, Apex Smashball develops the physical skills and knowledge base needed to participate in full-court volleyball.
The program, derived from Volleyball Canada, progresses through a number of levels that introduce new skills and concepts. Apex Smashball is played on a smaller court with modified, age-appropriate rules so that we can keep up the intensity, engagement, and most importantly, the fun of playing Volleyball!
There is no requirement or prerequisite to enroll in this program.
8U-10U program will play on a lower net, while the 10U-11U program will play on a slightly higher net.
The cycles of actions for each level are:
Level 1 – Catch, Run to the net, SPIKE over the net.
Level 2 – Catch, Pass with a toss towards the net, Set with a toss along the net, SPIKE over the net.
Level 3 – Catch, Pass with a toss towards the net, Set with a VOLLEY along the net, SPIKE over the net.
Level 4 – Pass with a BUMP towards the net, Catch and set with a toss along the net, SPIKE over the net.
Level 5 – PLAY VOLLEYBALL Participants get the opportunity to play a modified version of volleyball using all of the skills that they have learned over the course of the sessions.
